GatherMiles is not in the app stores yet. This page explains how account deletion works in the app once it is released: you will be able to delete your account whenever you like, deletion in the app is immediate and permanent, and we cannot restore an account afterwards. Until then, send any deletion request by email as described below.
In the app (once released)
- Open Settings, then Delete account.
- Read what will be deleted and what is kept for safety.
- Confirm with a fresh 6-digit code that we send to your account email. This protects you if someone else has your unlocked phone.
- Confirm the final question. The app then signs you out.
If something goes wrong half-way, your account stays in a “waiting for deletion” state. Open the app again to finish it.
If you do not have the app
If you cannot use the app, for example after uninstalling it, you can ask us to delete your account by email. Write from the email address of the account to [email protected]. We check that you control the account email before acting on the request, so nobody else can delete your account, and we reply within 30 days.
What is deleted
- Your profile: name, bio, home country, languages, interests, travel style.
- Your photo, removed from storage.
- Your date of birth and account state.
- Your settings, blocks (in both directions) and location data.
- Your activities, which are cancelled, and your participation in others.
- Your sign-in account (email).
What may be kept
- Reports you filed are kept without your identity, so that we can still act on them.
- Reports about you, with their evidence, are kept for safety and for legal claims: 12 months after the case is closed, or 36 months if it is referred to an authority or under a legal hold.
- A record of your location-sharing consent, if you gave one, as proof: for the life of the account plus 36 months.
- A record of your deletion or privacy request, as proof that we handled it: 36 months.
- A hash of your email for up to 90 days, only if you were refused because of age, so that the refusal is not bypassed.
- Backups. Deleted data can remain in daily backups, which roll off within 7 days.

Before you delete
- There is no self-service export in the app. If you want a copy of your data, ask for it at [email protected] before you delete, and we will provide it on request.
- Deleting the app from your phone does not delete your account.
